5 Fitness Inspirations to Master Fitness Goals
Fitness is a lifestyle choice, not a fad, and definitely not a quick weight-loss strategy for your next beach vacation.
I challenge you to make fitness a priority in your busy schedule. Even if that means waking up 30 minutes earlier, skipping lunch with coworkers to workout during lunch, or planning socials around fitness activities.
Here are my favorite 5 fitness inspirations to master fitness goals.
1. Try New Fitness Classes
As lovers of life, we like to stay stimulated and try new things. That’s perfect for keeping your workouts fresh because fitness is always evolving.
At Equinox River Oaks District, I attended the Best Stretch Ever Class. This class bends your perception of traditional stretching by incorporating Stick Mobility™ in each exercise. In only 30 minutes, the stick mobility training increases functional range of motion, improves posture, increases stability, and improves total body strength.
To try new fitness classes, I suggest joining ClassPass, where you can try various classes worldwide or purchasing classes on Groupon. Groupon has great deals and packages from fitness studios in your neighborhood. Also, many luxury gyms and studios, such as Equinox, Lifetime Fitness, and Revolution Studio, offer 3—to 7-day passes to experience their fitness class offerings.
2. Update Your Fitness Attire
When you look good, you feel good. Right? That’s why keeping your fitness attire on point is a great way to stay motivated.
Buy a few cute tank tops, some sexy sports bras, and new kicks that make you feel fabulous!
When it comes to achieving our goals, we can put pressure on ourselves in a way that creates a very judgmental environment that drains our motivation with negativity. You need to be kinder to yourself, and that sort of positivity will translate to the results you see. For example, something as simple as “I want to work out today because I love my new yoga pants” can make the experience a lot better than “I ate terribly today and look horrible, so I need to work out.” (Jenna Whitecar, PopSugar, How the Right Outfit Can Motivate Me to Achieve My Fitness Goals)
3. Mix Up Your Fitness Routine
Although you might love one specific type of workout, such as running or Pilates, it’s best to mix up your fitness routines.
Stagnate workouts lead to boredom and adaption. Your body and mind adjust to the intensity or quality of exercise, and your results will plateau. That’s when most people lose interest in their fitness goals because they no longer see the results of weight loss or muscle definition.
Yes, it’s good to exercise on a set schedule. But try to mix up your workouts with High-Intensity Training, interval training, and various cardio classes. If you’re a runner, add circuit training, yoga, and indoor cycling to your fitness program. Or, if you’re mid-age, increase your cardio sessions with low-resistance exercises like Zumba, water aerobics, swimming, or elliptical interval training.
Everyone needs a balanced fitness regimen of cardio, strength training, stretching, and interval training to keep your body in top condition.
4. Eat Right
We all know diets don’t work. Why? Because we love to eat.
If you subscribe to KETO, Whole-30, or swore off carbs for life, I respect you. The one thing you and I can do is eat right.
We can make smarter food choices and limit our indulgences. One of my favorite ways to do that is to veggie-pack my meals and incorporate healthy alternatives for food swaps. For instance, instead of serving white rice or pasta in an entree, swap it for a legume, quinoa, or steamed cauliflower. Also, read the labels on your foods to avoid added sugar, salt, and preservatives.
For meal prep ideas, try Green Smoothies, Southwest Salmon with Chipotle Slaw, and California Blended Turkey Burger from the “Recipes Every Girl Should Know” series. You’ll not only feel better eating healthier foods, but you will love the results in your skin and body.
5. Pump Up the Jams
Music moves us, so it’s important to pump up the jams during your workouts. Create an energetic playlist with your favorite music to fuel your workouts, or download a fitness app to coach you on your training.
Motion Traxx is my go-to app for audio workouts. I’ve used it for years for half-marathon training, dropping a pant size, and cycling solo. Each session is crafted by renowned fitness experts and paired with music set to the required bpm.
