When I saw the picture, I asked myself, “Is this what I really look like?” My appearance resembled one of the neglected plants on my patio, wilted and sad. My patchy, uneven dry skin and damaged, frizzy hair took over my once youthful glow.

I immediately called Sensia Studio & Japanese Day Spa, Houston’s premier full-service salon, makeup studio and day spa in the Galleria to rescue me. I consulted with Sensia Studio Salon Manager, Edric Espinoza, and told him I needed a hair, skincare and makeup regimen that was easy for me to maintain for my hectic lifestyle.

Within minutes, Edric prescribed a custom beauty plan for just for me. Yes, a beauty plan because my hair and skin required several treatments to reverse the damage of beauty care neglect.

Edric scheduled a series of appointments which included haircuts, conditioning treatments, and color management sessions with Hair Designer David West. HydraFacial treatments and facial waxing for lip and brow with Esthetician Kelsi O’Neil. Plus, a “Girl-on-the-Go” makeup session with Makeup Artist, Melissa McKinney.

Sensia Hair Care Therapy: Hair Care Solutions for Your Needs

My first appointment was with Hair Designer, David West. David analyzed the texture of my hair and asked about my hair routine. I felt comfortable with David and told him about the struggles I faced managing my naturally curly hair. He listened to me and found solutions to fit my needs.

David applied a new hair treatment called “BK” Hair De-Frizzer to smooth out and condition my hair. It restored luster and shine to my hair in one treatment. Best part, it’s formaldehyde-free and free of harsh smells and fumes. I loved it! My hair felt super smooth and conditioned for six weeks.

Sensia Skincare Treatments: Facials, Waxing & Products

My next session was with Esthetician Kelsi O’Neil for a HydraFacial MD®. She used the HydraFacial® treatment to remove dead skin cells and extract impurities while simultaneously bathing the new skin with cleansing, hydrating and moisturizing serums. The treatment was soothing, refreshing and non-irritating.  The best part, no needles were used for extractions and the facial was painless. I fell asleep during my first HydraFacial® session; it was that relaxing! After my HydraFacial® , I couldn’t stop staring at my face in the mirror. That dull skinned complexion in my “wake-up” picture was gone. My face was glowing which made me look younger! Yes!

Sensia Makeup Studio: Application, Cosmetics &  Lessons

My last appointment was for “The Girl-on-the-Go” makeup session with Sensia Studio Makeup Artist, Melissa McKinney. Melissa, a Houston beauty expert, custom designed a makeup routine to fit my dynamic lifestyle and chose a neutral color palette to transition from day to night. She also recommended a Vitamin C Moisturizer and Sunscreen from IMAGE Skincare to prep my face for cosmetics.

The day makeup application consisted of a Peach Concealer for under the eye and as a primer for the lids. Melissa defined my eyebrows with a Blonde Lites Brow Tint. She brushed my face with a Baked Hydrating Powder Foundation in Deep (avoiding the eye area) and blended the powder into the neck for a smooth finish. Melissa then brushed my cheeks with Bake Blush Mineral Powder in Hibiscus for a pop of color.

For the eyes, Melissa selected a Champagne Gold for the top lid, a Rose Gold for the base, and a Plum Brown for the corner contrast on the crease. She used a Navy Gel Eye Liner to bring out my dark brown eyes and coated my lashes with a Lush Black Mascara.

Lastly, Melissa outlined my lips with a waterproof Gel Lip Liner in S’more and applied a Liquid Lustre gloss in Seduction. The entire process takes about 5-10 minute to complete which is exactly what I was looking for. Also, all the Sensia Studio cosmetics are anti-humidity and high color potency which means your makeup will stay on longer, even on Houston’s hottest, muggiest of days.

For the day to evening transition, Melissa added a few more steps and products to the mix. Melissa stroked my cheeks with a Color Stick Cheek Highlighter in Solar and patted my cheeks to blend in the color for a little shimmer. She added a touch more of the Plum Brown shadow to the lids for a smokey eye and relined the eye with the Navy eyeliner. Melissa completed my evening look with a Liquid Lipstick in Mink Pink on my lips.
